Privacy Policy
Houji ("we," "us," or "our") operates houji.ai. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information We Collect
When you sign up for Houji, we collect your name, email address, and business information you provide during onboarding. We also collect call logs, transcripts, and message records generated by your AI receptionist. We collect your phone number for the purpose of sending you automated call and message notifications, with your explicit consent.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide and improve the Houji service, send you call notifications and message alerts via SMS and email, generate and maintain your AI receptionist's configuration, and communicate with you about your account.
3. SMS Notifications
By providing your phone number and consenting during onboarding, you agree to receive automated SMS notifications from Houji, including call alerts and message summaries. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message or disabling SMS notifications in your dashboard.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate Houji (including Twilio for telephony, Anthropic for AI, ElevenLabs for voice, and Stripe for billing), and only to the extent necessary to provide the service.
5. Call Transcripts
When Elise handles a call on your behalf, the conversation is transcribed in real time using Deepgram's speech recognition service. Call audio is never recorded or stored — only the text transcript.
Transcripts are stored securely in your Houji dashboard and are accessible only to your firm. Houji staff do not read or access call transcripts. Transcripts are never used to train AI models and are never shared with third parties, except the subprocessors listed below (Deepgram for transcription, Anthropic for AI responses, ElevenLabs for voice synthesis).
You control how long transcripts are retained. From your dashboard Account tab, you can set a retention period of 30 days, 90 days, or 1 year — or keep transcripts indefinitely (the default). You can also permanently delete all call data at any time. Deletion is immediate and cannot be reversed.
6. Translation Line (if enabled)
If your firm subscribes to the Translation Line add-on, interpretation calls are processed in real time and, by default, no transcript is stored after the call ends. Only call metadata is saved (date, duration, language pair) for billing and usage purposes.
Attorneys may optionally enable transcription for translation calls from their dashboard settings. When transcription is enabled, the interpretation line announces this at the start of every call. Enabled transcripts are stored under the same access controls as regular call transcripts and are subject to the same retention and deletion rules. Houji recommends obtaining client consent before enabling translation call transcription.
7. Subprocessors
Houji uses the following third-party services to deliver its core functionality:
• Deepgram — real-time speech transcription (transcripts are sent to Deepgram for processing; Deepgram does not store audio)
• Anthropic — AI responses during calls and onboarding (conversation content is sent to Anthropic for processing)
• ElevenLabs — text-to-speech voice synthesis (response text is sent to ElevenLabs for voice generation)
• Twilio — phone number provisioning and call routing
• Stripe — payment processing (Houji does not store payment card details)
• Resend — transactional email delivery (notification emails, welcome emails)
• Railway — cloud hosting infrastructure (United States)
All subprocessors are contractually bound to appropriate data protection standards.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Call logs and transcripts are retained according to the retention period you select in your dashboard Account tab. You can permanently delete all call transcripts and messages at any time from your dashboard Account tab under Data & Privacy. For full account deletion, contact hello@houji.ai. Account data is removed from active systems within 30 days of cancellation.

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and access controls to protect your data. See our Security page for detailed information about how we handle your data.
